Our Programs
Care coordination
We walk with people. Our Care Coordination program is intentionally designed to evaluate where one of our neighbors-in-need is at when they come to us, where they want to go and all they can be under God, and what barriers we need to eliminate for them to get from here to there. Sometimes that means utilizing our programs, and other times it means reaching out to our strong community partnerships across Montgomery. Regardless, it means redirecting lives.
MAP Youth Navigation Program & Summer enrichment Program
Our children are important to us! We have an after-school program, the MAP Youth Navigation Program, located at 1516 Mobile Road to help kids in our community with their school work as well as provide a safe place to play, have a snack, and just be kids.
Our Summer Enrichment Program strives to bridge the opportunity gap for the kids in our neighborhood, providing them college, career, civic, and community opportunities, while also giving them a safe space to be during the summertime when they are not in school.
We believe literacy is a key component of our kids’ success and our reading incentive programs are designed to get kids in our neighborhood reading and improving their reading comprehension skills.
Food Programs
We provide daily hot lunches, Monday through Friday at 12:00pm for our neighbors-in-need that are experiencing poverty. The New Walk of Life Church devotion starts at 11:45am.
Our food pantry meets emergency grocery needs for our neighbors with a grocery bag of dry, shelf-stable foods as well as a bag of frozen meats and any produce we have access to at that time.
We also have snack bags, quart-sized ziplock bags filled with shelf-stable snack items, that we distribute when our neighbors come to us hungry along with a bottle of water.
Clothing and Hygiene Programs
Our clothing closet meets the clothing needs of our neighbors. We provide clothes and shoes to men, women, and children who are in need, either for daily use or job interviews, funerals, etc.
Many homes in this neighborhood do not have laundry machines or even power and water. Our washers and dryers are open to our neighbors.
As many of our neighbors-in-need are either homeless or in a home without utilities, we have showers available to the community, by appointment at this time, and we provide hygiene packs to our neighbors who also might need those items.
Career and Education
In order to eliminate poverty, we need to create opportunities for our neighbors to have livable wage jobs. Our GED program helps members of our community obtain the tools needed to be more competitive in the job market.
Our library isn’t just for kids! We’re combatting adult illiteracy as well, and our Uncle John’s Library is open to all ages.
Our Computer Lab is open to more than just our GED program. It’s home to our career training program in partnership with local colleges and businesses.
