Changes to Services During COVID-19
In the interest of keeping our staff, clients, and community safe and healthy during COVID-19, we are implementing the following changes effective immediately and until further notice.
Hours are changing from 10:00am - 3:00pm to 10:00am - 1:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Lunch will still be served daily, but will be served outside of the Mercy House building and will be served in a to-go container.
We will still be distributing snack bags and grocery bags.
We will still be distributing hygiene bags.
Most in-facility services are suspended, there will not be laundry access, shower access, or phone access.
We will not be opening the backyard playground or basketball courts (much to our dismay as well).
New Walk of Life Church has suspended their in-sanctuary daily devotion and prayer time.
Mercy House staff are performing Safe Serve Practices as usual. This includes wearing gloves, washing hands regularly, and disinfecting surfaces continuously. Additional measures that are being taken are: serving meals outside, not brining clients into the facilities, employees wearing long sleeves, and employees bringing a change of clothing to wear home so that infected clothing isn’t being brought into employee’s homes. Employees who are not required to be on-site are working from home, and employees who are feeling sick or are in a high-risk group are also working from or staying home.
The Washington Park Community’s health and safety is always and continues to be a priority for us here at Mercy House. We take seriously our position to meet the needs of children, families, homeless brothers and sisters, and the elderly. Even though our services are restricted in some ways, new needs and issues are surfacing due to COVID-19 that require even more of a response than our standard operations, and we hope you’ll take a look at our Needs page or Contact Us to see how you can partner with us in serving our neighbors.
God Bless.
